We are always looking for volunteers to help raise awareness about elephants and the ivory trade with us at our local events in the US - click here to see what state we are hosting an event in! Not close enough? Send us an email to see how we can work with you to set up an event in your own city.
Volunteer opportunities include: face painting, writing thank you letters to rangers in Zambia, hosting an elephant movie night to raise awareness in your neighborhoods, and more!
Volunteer for a month with our partners in Zambia! You could work at the Kafue Release Facility and see Kavalamanja, the orphaned elephant we sponsor! Or you could work at the Mukambi School and meet the children we support!
BECOME A FOSTER PARENT
Meet Kavala, an orphaned elephant victim of the ivory trade. Kavala’s mother was shot by poachers in 2011. Her mother’s body was found by the Zambian Wildlife Authority with tiny baby droppings surrounding her, but no calf. Three weeks later a weak an emaciated elephant orphan was spotted in the area on the banks of the Zambezi River in Rufunsa GMA. At approximately 10 months old, Kavala was in desperate need of milk formula but had managed to survive on vegetation throughout that time. She had an abscess on her knee and many infected sores all over her body due to her malnourished and immune suppressed condition. With the right diet and combination of treatments and care Kavala healed rapidly and is now a confident and boisterous youngster.
Become a foster parent for Kavala today by signing up as a reoccuring donor at a minimum of $5USD a month. Your gift goes directly to the care of Kavala and her keepers who live with her 24/7.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Have your classroom get involved with Elephantopia! You can send a letter to rangers in Zambia thankging them for their hard work to protect Africa's keystone species. Or you can host a project to raise funds for Kavala, the orphaned elephant victim of the ivory trade. Or you can become a sister school to Mukambi School in Kafue National Park! The opportunities are limitless, so send us an email to learn more!
